"A teacher is one who imparts the way, instructs in the profession, and resolves doubts.(師者,所以傳道、授業、解惑也。)" This is a well-known ancient saying and the duty of teachers. However, in today's world of advanced internet and ubiquitous external stimuli and temptations, teachers do not need to be aloof, and students are no longer simply obedient. If what the teacher says cannot attract students, the entire classroom will be "littered with corpses." Therefore, the author believes that what Han Yu said is no longer enough; another skill must be added, which is "soul-calling," to keep students' minds in the classroom.

Professor Chen integrates HiTeach's real-time interactive functions to design the following course activities:

1.    Pre-test: At the beginning of the class, students are given three questions to understand the key points of the lesson. This indirectly encourages students to listen attentively to find the answers and further motivates them to preview before class, so they can answer the questions correctly.
2.    Knock-out and Buzz-in: Many bonus questions are interspersed throughout the course for students to answer quickly. Correct answers earn bonus points, thereby attracting students' attention and preventing them from losing focus due to distraction. At the same time, it allows students to take a breather and rest briefly; teachers can also understand students' learning effectiveness and make immediate adjustments, which is the "soul-calling" mentioned earlier.
3.    Post-test: HiTeach has a re-answer function. The post-test is the same as the pre-test, repeated once. The purpose is to check everyone's learning effectiveness in this class. Students who get all the answers correct can also get bonus points.

At the end of the semester, Professor Chen will tally the scores for students' use of teaching aids and active participation in class discussions as part of their regular grades and select the top three students to receive small gifts.

Mid-term Competition: Since Physiology is a subject that requires integrated understanding and the connections between chapters are very high, the professor does not want students to study only for exams, which would result in studying only before the exam and forgetting everything afterward. Therefore, I use HiTeach's challenge mode survival mechanism to hold a Physiology elimination competition to encourage students to review the chapters after the exam. First, the teacher will review each question and return the exam papers for students to review. In the next class, 15 questions (with slight modifications) will be drawn from the exam papers for an IRS elimination competition(Contest Game). Only those who answer correctly can continue the game; incorrect answers result in elimination. The whole process is tense and exciting. Those who answer correctly will cheer, while those who answer incorrectly will lament. The person who survives to the end is the winner and will receive a small gift as a reward. In addition, bonus points will be added to the mid-term exam scores based on the number of questions each student answers correctly. This encourages students to further review the questions they have already taken, allowing them to know where they went wrong and which concepts need reinforcement, rather than forgetting everything after the exam.

TOP5 Basic Medical Science Competition
In addition, Professor Chen holds a competition similar to "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" every year called the 【TOP5 Basic Medical Science Competition】, which has been held for nine sessions so far, using HiTeach from version 3 to 5. To promote the competition, the team partners also manage a fan page. Students register in teams of four, and the competition is divided into three stages: Point Accumulation Round - Survival Round - PK Round. To compete for the highest honor and substantial prize money, students must actively review basic medical science courses, allowing them to prepare for the national exams more efficiently and with greater motivation.
