The 2024 National Reading Star Competition(全國閱讀好小子活動), jointly organized by the Taiwan Technology Leadership and instructional Technology Development Association (臺灣科技領導與教學科技發展協會) and the Little Owl Smart Alliance Schools (小貓頭鷹智慧聯盟校), concluded with remarkable results.The event saw participation from over 400 classes across 22 cities, involving more than 10,000 students. With licensed content from over 10 publishers, the competition aligned with the 108 Curriculum Guidelines(108課綱) and the Tablet-in-Education policy(生生用平板政策).
Questions were designed referencing international standards like PISA and PIRLS by reading comprehension experts. Through the automated competition system powered by HiTeach software, both teachers and students could experience the benefits of integrating technology into education. The software also provided detailed learning diagnostic reports, enabling precise evaluation of students' learning abilities and progress.

The class challenge was conducted across middle schools, upper elementary, middle elementary, and lower elementary levels. Students used individual tablets to read literacy materials and answered questions via the HiTeach classroom teaching software challenge mode. The event's lively and engaging atmosphere showcased the integration of digital technology, allowing real-time interactivity and immediate feedback on elimination results.
The 2024 National Reading Star Competition | HiTeach Contest Mode
Dr. Liang Ren-Kai emphasized that the Reading Star event is a long-standing tradition in team academic competitions. Starting in 2002 as the Taipei English Star Competition, it was held annually until 2016, making it a highlight in digital learning. Special thanks were extended to education bureaus, Professor Chen Xin-Xi’s question design team, and publishers for licensing materials and providing book prizes. This competition encourages class-wide participation, fostering collaboration and inclusive learning. The goal is to involve more cities and counties, allowing teachers and students nationwide to experience innovative technological assessments, ultimately enhancing teaching quality and effectiveness.
