Environment Requirements: The school has purchased the Sokrates Digital Lesson Observation Platform. The classroom computer has HiTeach 5 or above installed, and the AI Sokrates Pack additional license has been purchased. Please check if your version is updated. For version checking and updating methods, please refer here.
A teacher asks, "Why do some teachers have an S icon next to the Start Lesson button on the top right of their HiTeach interface, but mine doesn't?" It's not a software problem, but a difference in HiTeach's additional license modules.
The S icon appears when HiTeach has an AI Sokrates-related license (i.e., the Sokrates add-on module). AI Sokrates is primarily used for teacher professional growth and public lesson observation and discussion. It is a super-useful tool for assisting teachers in technology empowerment as part of the education digital transformation policies of education authorities. It can be a great help for individual teachers or teams conducting lesson observation and discussion.
HiTeach's AI Sokrates related additional license modules Generally, if you have purchased the [AI Sokrates Digital Lesson Observation Solution] or are a project collaborator (expert or teacher), your HiTeach maybe have the additional AI Sokrates related license modules. Besides the student-device connection license, the additional licenses will provide functions like: Support USB Recording, Sokrates Lesson Observation App, Sokrates Video Service, and Voice-to-Text. This allows HiTeach to record the computer screen or camera view during class, and with the integration of AI Sokrates' AI analysis technology, it can generate a Sokrates Video on the Sokrates Digital Lesson Observation Platform. The "Voice-to-Text" function allows the Sokrates Timeline, which presents the class history, to use AI voice-to-text technology to transcribe the voices of teachers and students into text, sequentially displaying the dialogue between teachers and students on the timeline.
✨Start Recording and AI Sokrates Analysis
With the S icon on your HiTeach, when you want to record your class for personal review or to conduct lesson observation and discussion with your team, you need to "Start Lesson" by clicking the S icon.
The main process is to click the
S icon in the top right corner. After the Sokrates Lesson Observation setup window appears, enter the name of the class and other relevant information. In the recording settings, you can decide to enable or disable synchronous recording and whether to generate a transcript. Once all settings are complete, click the
Start button.
If you have enabled the synchronous recording function, it is best to first click the
10 seconds test button to test the recording effect. You can select the recording device, with the default being the computer desktop, or an external camera such as a Webcam. If there are no issues, click the
Start button.
💡*Reminder: If using an external camera such as a WebCam to record audio, please do not use an additional amplified microphone when recording the class. The recording effect is better for the conversation between the teacher and the students. Otherwise, you should use an advanced environment equipped with a mixer.
Next, just like the function of the regular HiTeach "Start Lesson" button, select the course student list and click the
Start button to begin the class and let your students join the class.
Before the class ends, click the
End Lesson button. The lesson
Record List screen will then appear, showing the progress of the data upload to the platform for this class. The system may take a few minutes to upload and process. You can click the close button to close the window and perform other operations. You can later click the
S icon again to check the progress. Once processing is complete, clicking the
Sokrates icon will open a browser, displaying the complete data for this lesson case.
This data includes the Sokrates Video, AI Sokrates Timeline, class e-notes, and AI Sokrates report. If you want to download the video, click the More Information icon and select
Download the Video from the advanced menu.
✨Team Participation in Digital Lesson Observation & Discussion
If this is a public lesson and you want to invite other teachers or experts to participate in synchronous lesson observation and discussion, the observing teachers or experts can use their mobile phones, tablets, or laptops to scan the QR code on the left or copy the Sokrates Observation App URL and paste it into a group chat. They can then quickly connect to the digital observation app in the classroom, allowing observers to participate in recording their observations in multimedia formats such as photos, text, and videos.
If the observing teachers or experts have the HiTA app installed on their phones, they can join more conveniently by using the scan function in the top right corner or by clicking the Start Lesson Observation blue box in the
Home tab section of the HiTA app and entering the classroom number and verification code (PIN No.).
