Environment Requirements:
1. Teacher's device: HiTeach 5.3.0016 or later. Please check if your version is up-to-date. For version checking and updating methods, please refer here.
2. Student devices require Interactive Response System (IRS) authorization or tablet connection authorization.
If you have a test file you want to use for a HiTeach Contest Game or Quiz activity, please refer to this document for instructions. Test file sources include Excel files or IES Cloud exam files, as explained below:
| | File Type & Preparation | In-Class Application |
|---|
1 | HTEX File Import your PowerPoint, Canva presentations, or Excel test files into HiTeach. After setting the question types and answer options, save it as a HiTeach-specific HTEX format. | After starting the lesson, select the Contest Game button from the Test mode button, then choose the HTEX file to begin the contest. |
2 | EXCEL File Generate an Excel test file from the question bank system. Save the exported CSV file from the question bank as an XLS or XLSX file. Or you can edit by yourself. | After starting the lesson, navigate to the HiTeach's Resources area (e.g., the exam file in the sample files), select the EXCEL test file, and choose the Contest Game button in the pop-up open dialog box. |
3 | IES Exam File Create a test file in IES beforehand. From the HiTeach's Resources area, click IES Exam File. In the open dialog box that appears, select the Attachment button to download the test file to the page, where a test file icon will appear. | After starting the lesson, click the attachment test file icon on HiTeach's page. When the open dialog box appears, select the Contest Game button. |
✨Using HiTeach Sample Files to Get Excel Sample Format
If you want to edit test questions in Excel, or convert Excel files exported from publisher's exam banks or platforms into a test file format supported by HiTeach, you can first refer to the sample format provided by HiTeach and edit according to the sample fields. Here's how to get the HiTeach test paper Excel sample file:
Step 1: In the HiTeach left resource area, click
Preset Resources, then click the
Refresh icon to download or check for the latest files. Next, click the
Sample File tab. In the pop-up file management window, you can view the sample file storage path, select an Excel question sample file to refer to, and finally click the
Extern Open button in the new pop-up window.
Step 2: This Excel file will open immediately. Please refer to its fields to edit your own test file.
Do not change the first row, and keep the names of each column unchanged. Simply enter your questions sequentially, or copy and paste question content into the designated stem field, correct option (answer) field, and option fields of the sample file. Other fields are optional (can be left blank). Once editing is complete, save the file.

✨Importing Excel Test Files into HiTeach
Although the Contest Game primarily supports HiTeach's exclusive HTEX file format, Excel test files and IES cloud test files can also be used directly. If your test file doesn't need further editing, you can skip this section. The following demonstration shows how to import a previously edited Excel file into HiTeach first, review it to ensure there are no issues, and even add other explanations or correct answer pages before saving it in HTEX format. The steps are as follows:
Step: HiTeach is in editing mode before you click "
Start Lesson." In editing mode, click
Hi, then from the menu, click
Local File /
Open an old File. The system will ask if you want to save the content currently on the page. After confirming, you can select your edited Excel test paper file, and finally click the
Confirm button to import the questions.
The imported questions will each become a separate page. Please use the up/down page functions to check if the content is as expected. If you want to add new pages, such as an activity description page, or add solutions/explanations for questions, you can do so at this time. Once done, click the
Hi button, then from the menu, click
Local File /
Save File, enter a file name, and finally save this file.
When you are in class after "
Start Lesson," if you want to conduct a Contest Game activity, you can follow the steps below to open the file directly:
Step 1: In the HiTeach resource area, click the
Local File button, then select the dedicated HTEX file for the Contest Game activity prepared earlier using the methods introduced, and then
Open this file.
Step 2: Click the
Contest Game button to immediately enter the Contest Game settings screen and start the Contest Game activity.
To open an Excel test file or an IES Cloud Test file for a Contest Game, the operation is similar. In the
Open dialog box, click to start a
Contest Game activity, or choose to start a
Quiz activity.
Open Excel test files or IES Cloud Test files to start a Contest Game. ✨Preparing Test Files on HiTeach Pages in Advance for Easier Classroom Activity Execution
Can you arrange the Contest Game files in advance during lesson preparation? Yes, you can. In editing mode (
before starting lesson), click the
Local File button, select the file you want to use, then click the
Attachment button. This will place the Contest Game file onto the page, similar to the
Save File operation introduced earlier, saving your teaching material as an HTEX file.
Open your HTEX format teaching material file in HiTeach. After
starting lesson, click the attachment icon, then click the
Contest Game button, and you will enter the Contest Game activity. Isn't that more convenient?!
💡If you usually edit your teaching materials in PowerPoint, you can use the Open File method mentioned earlier to import the PPT content, then embed the necessary Contest Game files as attachments to create a complete lesson flow material.
Using the same method, you can also embed IES Cloud Test files or Excel test files as attachments onto the HiTeach page.
For simple test paper attachments, after clicking, you can not only conduct a
Contest Game activity but also choose to conduct a
Quiz activity.
