From Publishing and Submission to Grading and Review: A Complete Guide to IES Online Self-Paced Assessment

Teachers can publish pre-class, post-class, or supplementary practice through IES Cloud, while students complete the assessment in AClass ONE Learning Companion. The system grades objective questions automatically; teachers then grade subjective questions, and students review their results, incorrect answers, explanations, and remedial resources.

Requirements

Teachers can use IES Cloud after registering for a TEAM Model account, and students can access the corresponding AClass ONE features. Actual availability depends on the account, course settings, and service license.

The TEAM Model Smarter Education Support System provides three connected assessment approaches. Teachers can use HiTeach for synchronous whole-class assessment, publish asynchronous Online Self-Paced Assessments through IES Cloud, or process paper tests with an integrated answer-sheet scanning and grading workflow.

This guide focuses on the complete IES Online Self-Paced Assessment workflow: publishing an activity, student submission, teacher grading, and student review. For synchronous assessment in HiTeach, see the related resources at the end of this page.

1. Publish an Online Self-Paced Assessment

Step 1 | Open IES Cloud

In HiTeach, select the teacher profile picture in the upper-right classroom information area. In HiTeach Agent, choose Open IES Cloud Platform. Alternatively, open Teacher IES Sign-In from the HABOOK website.

Prepare a cloud-based exam before publishing: IES supports several exam-authoring workflows. The point-and-drag screenshot method is especially useful for converting paper or image-based questions into a cloud exam for online answering, grading, and review. Related resources are listed below.

Step 2 | Create the Assessment and Configure the Activity

In IES, go to Personal > Activity > Assessment, select Add, and create an assessment. Enter the activity name; select Online Self-Paced Assessment, the assessment type, participants, personal course, and end time; then choose the exam source and exam. Verify the settings and select Confirm.

Step 3 | Preview the Exam and Publish

On the exam preview page, verify the questions and their order. When everything is ready, select Publish Assessment.

Step 4 | Share the Assessment Notice or Direct Link

After publishing, move the pointer over the message button for the activity. You can copy a complete notice containing the activity name, details, and link for a class communication channel, or copy only the direct link to the assessment.

2. Complete the Assessment in AClass ONE

After the teacher publishes the assessment, students can find the activity in AClass ONE Learning Companion and complete it within the assigned activity period.

Step 1 | Sign In to AClass ONE

Students can open the AClass ONE Student Sign-In page directly. Depending on school settings, they may use a supported third-party account or enter their TEAM Model account and password.

Step 2 | Select the Assessment and Start

Find the ongoing assessment, verify its name and activity period, and select Start Assessment.

Step 3 | Answer Each Question

Answer the questions in sequence or select a question number to move directly to that item. For written-response questions, students can enter text and, when permitted by the item settings, take or upload a photo. After checking all responses, select Submit.

Step 4 | Confirm Submission and Check the Status

When the confirmation dialog appears, select Confirm Submission. If the activity is still open or the teacher is grading subjective responses, the result page will show that scores are not yet finalized. Return later to view the completed results.

3. Grade Assessment Responses

IES can automatically grade objective items such as single-choice, multiple-choice, and true-or-false questions. Teachers grade and annotate subjective items such as fill-in-the-blank and written-response questions according to the assessment criteria.

Step 1 | Open Response Details

After signing in to IES, go to Personal > Activity > Assessment, choose the activity, and open Response Details. Select Grade for the student whose responses you want to review.

Step 2 | Choose Grade by Student or Grade by Question

Question numbers already graded by the system appear in blue, while ungraded subjective items appear in gray. Select a question number to jump to that item, then use Grade by Student or Grade by Question as appropriate. Quick settings such as Ungraded Full Score and Ungraded Zero can further streamline grading.

Step 3 | Score and Annotate Subjective Responses

Use the score controls to adjust the score for a subjective response. Select Annotate to add written or freehand feedback. Select Confirm when the annotation is complete, and then select Save Score.

Step 4 | Complete Grading and Calculate the Total Score

Continue with the remaining questions in Grade by Question or the remaining students in Grade by Student. When all pending items are graded, IES combines objective and subjective item scores and calculates the total assessment score.

4. View Results and Continue Learning

Step 1 | View Assessment Results

After the teacher completes grading and finalizes the scores, students can sign in to AClass ONE to view their assessment results and learning data.

Step 2 | Star Questions and Practice Again

Students can star questions they want to revisit and retain incorrect or important items for focused independent practice and review.

Step 3 | Use Explanations and Remedial Resources

If the questions include explanations or remedial learning resources, AClass ONE displays them when review becomes available. Students can move beyond checking whether an answer is correct and strengthen the underlying concepts and problem-solving process.
