Digital Lesson Observation Practice | 《Gathering the Beauty of Colors》

Publicly observed lessons are an essential part of every teacher's job. In Taiwan, the Ministry of Education's "Reference Principles for Public class" states that schools must Collaborative lesson preparation/Lesson Sharing, Public Lectures/ Lesson Observation, Post-Observation Meeting/ Lesson Feedback , as well as keep records of the items they perform.

In the past, lesson observation required a lot of administrative work for schools and teachers, as well as guidance from experts. Now, with the Digital Lesson Observation model brought by TEAM Model AI Lecture Observation Lounge, the tasks of lesson observation can be completed efficiently.
Conclusion Value of Digital Lesson Observation

This is a case study of one of the pilot schools of the "Literacy Oriented Open Observation Classes" implementation program in Jieshou Junior High School in Taipei City. The Digital Lesson Observation was used to promote a professional dialogue on lesson study, create a mutual learning atmosphere among teachers and students, and improve the quality of education in Taipei City.

This time, we collaborated with the Ministry of Education's Aesthetic Education Program team to hold a public observation class on "Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education and Aesthetic and Design Curriculum Innovation Project", which is a worthy example of Digital Lesson Observation practice.

    Introduction of Digital Lesson Observation Environment

The open class was conducted as a live public observation, with both students and observers present at the teaching site.
  • Public Lectures/ Lesson Observation-The teachers and experts use the Sokrates Lecture Observation App to make direct and simultaneous comments during the course (photos and text records can be used); the teachers mainly present the content on the large touch screen with PPT, and the student groups use scale boxes, color tickets and colored blocks to collaborate on the tasks.
  • Post-Observation Meeting/ Lesson Feedback-By using the Sokrates video that integrates all the lecture records at the end of the class, the video can be quickly switched to the corresponding time point by clicking on the marker record of any viewer, which is convenient for lecture explanation and review, and demonstrates the value of Digital Lesson Observation!

   Digital Lesson Observation Process

Mr. Chen used a scale box with color tickets and colorful blocks made by the team at Jieshou Junior High School, and used the discussion and photo function of the group tablet to conduct a highly interactive smart class with the students.

  Lesson Observation

In the teaching part, this lesson "Gathering the Beauty of Colors" was taught by using scale boxes and color tickets to let students know the aesthetics of color.

The teacher not only presented the course content on the touchscreen, but also used the HiTeach push function to let the group tablet as an extension of the large touch screen, so that each student could see the content and learning tasks.

The process and results of each group's tasks can be uploaded to the touch screen using the group tablet, and the teacher can use HiTeach to grasp the students' learning status and view their work, and there is a high degree of interaction between teachers and students using technology.

Public classroom observation is a professional development activity that brings together the wisdom of teachers, and all teachers' observations are valuable.
