Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST) in Taiwan recently held its grand 10th "TOP5 Basic Medical Science Competition," celebrating a decade of this classic event that cultivates medical and nursing professionals! This year's competition, building upon the five original basic medical science subjects—Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology, and Pathology—introduced "Fundamentals of Nursing" for the first time, making the challenge more comprehensive and practical.
Students actively participated in the competition. The entire event integrated the
HiTeach smart teaching system, using real-time interactive functions such as multiple-choice question answering and Buzz-in answering (first-to-answer), enhancing on-site engagement and competition intensity. This allowed students to familiarize themselves with national exam question types and strengthen their on-the-spot response abilities in an immersive learning atmosphere.
Professor Chen Chin-Hsing, President of CTUST, specially attended the opening ceremony and encouraged students to cherish the opportunities for learning and competition, accumulating practical experience for exams through hands-on practice. Professor Tsai Li-Yun, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, also stated that according to historical data, students who participated in and won awards had a
significantly higher passing rate in national exams, demonstrating the effectiveness of this competition in teaching application and student competency development. Associate Professor Chen Chuan-Mei, Chair of the Department of Nursing, also participated on-site, offering support and encouragement to the students.
Under the promotion of Professor Chen Wei-Lu, this competition combined teaching and technology. It was not only a knowledge-based competitive activity but also a practical platform to promote students' active learning and professional advancement. The real-time interaction and data feedback functions provided by HiTeach made the competition a model of smart learning that combines fun and academics. CTUST will continue to focus on innovative teaching, accompanying every student on their steady path towards a medical or nursing profession.

Students register in teams of four, and the competition is divided into three stages: Point Accumulation Round - Survival Round - PK Round. To compete for the highest honor and substantial prize money, students must actively review basic medical science courses, allowing them to prepare for the national exams more efficiently and with greater motivation.
