Dr. Steven Liang, HiTeach's R&D Chief and the visionary behind the TEAM Model Smarter Education System, recently delivered a keynote speech at the EdHeroes Global Forum in Singapore, exploring the core question: "What is digital learning?"
Drawing on his over 35 years of experience in education and technology, Dr. Liang shared his profound insights into modern teaching models. He emphasized that the success of digital learning is not merely about technology but hinges on the deep integration of TPACK (Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge). Based on this framework, we developed the TEAM Model, which is not only a complete learning cycle of teaching, assessing, diagnosing, and remediating, but also an "AI culture" that empowers educators.
During the speech, Dr. Liang highlighted HiTeach's powerful ability to support diverse teaching strategies, such as Peer Instruction. He stressed that a high-quality digital tool must be data-driven, providing teachers and students with real-time, actionable data to inform decisions.
Addressing the impact of AI on education, Dr. Liang expressed a cautious yet optimistic view. He used two practical examples from HiTeach to illustrate how AI can serve as a powerful assistant, not a replacement for teachers:
Real-time Question Generation: AI can quickly create questions of varying difficulty based on student performance, allowing teachers to adapt their instruction on the fly.
AI Grading and Peer Assessment: Combining AI's automated grading with authentic peer assessment by students creates a more accurate and reliable evaluation mechanism.
Dr. Liang concluded by stating that in the digital age, the teacher's role will evolve into a facilitator and collaborator. He shared that we have collected over 600,000 lesson cases to help teachers learn how to effectively integrate technology into their teaching, fostering genuine professional growth.
