【Event】2025 National Reading Star Competition via HiTeach
The 2025 National Reading Star Competition has officially launched with tremendous success! This annual event is guided by the K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education (MOE), jointly organized by the Taiwan Technology Leadership and Instructional Technology Development Association and the Smart Owl Alliance Schools, and supported by various County and City Education Bureaus. The competition attracted enthusiastic participation from over 400 classes and more than 10,000 students across Taiwan, and secured textual authorization from over a dozen publishing houses.
Attended by over 200 people, including students, parents, and teachers.
The event is designed to fully align with Taiwan’s Competency-Oriented Curriculum (108課綱) and the 'Every Student Has a Tablet' policy (生生用平板). The test questions were planned with reference to global PISA and PIRLS standards, and reading comprehension experts were invited to design diverse and engaging competency-based question types.
By utilizing the automated competition system within the HiTeach Smart Teaching software, teachers and students fully experience the value of technology integration in instruction. Both teachers and students can instantly access learning diagnostic analysis reports to precisely track learning status and competency development.
Outstanding Schools of the Year
The event unfolded across several key stages: Parent-Teacher Empowerment Workshops(親師增能研習), Student Independent Reading(學生自主閱讀), Class Warm-up Rounds(班級熱身賽), Class Finals Rounds(班級決賽) by HiTeach's Test mode, and the Class Representative Challenge of National Reading Star Competition(班級代表挑戰賽) by HiTeach's Contest Game mode.
The highlight was the Award Ceremony and Class Representative Challenge, held on September 27th at Shalun International High School (沙崙國際高級中等學校) in Tainan City, drawing an impressive crowd of over 200 students, parents, and teachers.
The Challenge was segmented into groups: Junior High, Upper Elementary, Middle Elementary, and Lower Elementary. Each student representative was equipped with a tablet to first read the competency-based content and then answer questions using the HiTeach software's Contest Game Mode. The interactive and educational competition was highly engaging, featuring live, synchronous participation where students and the audience could see the real-time elimination status—a clear demonstration of successful digital technology integration in reading instruction.

The "Reading Star Competition" is a follow-up to this annual event. Building on last year’s enthusiasm, we extend special thanks to the County and City Education Bureaus for their support, Professor Hsin-Hsi Chen's team for their expertise in question design and review, and the many publishing houses for providing text authorization and book prizes. We hope more education bureaus across Taiwan will join in the future, allowing more teachers and students to experience this new, technology-enabled assessment model to enhance teaching quality and effectiveness.”
